HydroSpatial One
HydroSpatial One is the first and original "off-the-shelf" authoritative digital marine mapping, engineered and maintained from raw material from hydrographic offices and other agencies managing marine data content.
HydroSpatial One provides reference information comparable with land mapping and is designed for easy access and cost effective use in desktop and WebGIS, satisfying the majority of user needs and applications.
HydroSpatial One consists of six Topics sub-divided into Themes, which in turn contain Feature Types. It is possible to purchase an individual Topic or all Topics for your area of interest.
The following provides descriptions of the content and data sources within each Topic.
BE – Bathymetry & Elevation
Bathymetry and Elevation is the natural shape of the Earths’ surface on land and under the sea. The dataset includes depth and height contours and a digital elevation model reduced to chart datum. Also included are depth areas and intertidal areas showing cartographic representations of areas of water depth.
NP – Natural & Physical Features
The Natural and Physical Topic includes the natural topography of the coastal and marine environments including the biological, physical and chemical features within it. Included in the data is the type and landscape setting of the marine environment including the geology, seabed, water column and coastal landforms. Also included are biological and physical components include biota, habitats, fish spawning and nursery areas, non-gravitational current streams, rocks and some human impacts are included such as dams, canals and dykes
SO – Structures & Obstructions
The Structures and Obstructions Topic includes the human and physical structures and obstructions including oil and gas wells, pipelines and cables. Also included are physical human structures of a more general socio-economic purpose (e.g. general obstructions, buoyage).
SE – Socio Economic & Marine Use
The Socio Economic Topic can be defined as specified areas where one or more activities have been designated, are known to occur, or are restricted. This layer comprises largely of non-physical human boundaries defining areas or zoned of economic or social importance such as military areas, wind farm sites, navigation zones, dredging areas, fishing areas and national boundary limits.
CE – Conservation and Environment
The Conservation and Environment Topic comprised of designated boundaries for the purpose of conservation and environmental protection of natural and cultural heritage. Included are boundaries for designations and management, e.g. SSSI, SAC, SPA and other conservation designations (archaeological sites, shellfish beds, monitoring and assessment points, e.g. bathing waters and nitrates).
CO – Climate & Oceanography
The Climate & Oceanography Topic consists of tide and current information.
