Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated early/mid-career scientist or engineer looking for new opportunities? Do you have a passion for urban drainage modelling (including piped networks, SuDS and green infrastructure) and finding solutions for the more unusual and challenging drainage-related problems in both the UK and overseas?
We have a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join our diverse team of flood and water management experts. In particular we are looking for someone with specific expertise in drainage system modelling. Experience with Innovyze InfoWorks CS/ ICM drainage modelling software is preferable. Candidates with experience in MicroDrainage and other drainage modelling software will also be considered.
You will work closely with team members to deliver projects and support clients across our Floods and Water Management Group. You will help develop and implement innovative solutions to sustainable development, climate adaptation, environmental protection and system resilience.
In addition to our specific immediate need related to drainage modelling, there will also be longer term opportunities to get involved in other areas of our work including river modelling, flood risk management and forecasting, climate adaptation and resilience, water resources and the use of earth observation data. Our work cuts across regulatory, government and private sector consultancy and research sectors – both in the UK and internationally, and we are continuously generating new knowledge, skills and tools through our ongoing programme of internally funded cutting edge research.
You will have technical knowledge, multi-project experience and a strong interest in drainage modelling and surface water management. You will have proficiency in building and verifying drainage models and be able to use models to assess the performance of drainage systems. You can demonstrate good attention to detail, record keeping, presentation and report writing skills, and you have proven ability to work as part of a team. You will have a minimum professional qualification of a BSc in a relevant discipline.
