Principal hydraulic model developer (flood management)

We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Hydraulic Model Developer in our flood management team. The successful candidate will join our modelling and risk team, and will be responsible for the development of specialised numerical modelling tools and techniques. The role requires expertise in numerical solution methods, computational hydraulics and experience of methods for parallelisation of software code, coupled with innovation and imagination. Areas of application include flood risk modelling, integrated hydraulic modelling and natural flood management. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Technical knowledge and expertise in hydraulics; 
  • Significant experience in the coding, development and application of hydrodynamic numerical models;
  • Significant experience with parallelisation of software code; 
  • A minimum of a degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Civil/Environmental Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.; 
  • Willingness to engage and collaborate with our nationally and internationally recognised engineers, statisticians and scientists; 
  • Excellent all round communication and time management skills.
