Software Developer/Engineer

We are seeking a Software Developer/Engineer to assist with our growing ship navigation and mooring related work. You will join the Ships and Dredging Group and will take a prominent role in supporting our consultancy and research work.

About the role

You will be involved in ongoing software development in support of ship navigation simulation and ship mooring consultancy studies. You will develop, maintain and troubleshoot software and hardware. This will include our ship and tug simulator software and hardware including simulator controls and their integration, and our
wave generation software and hardware, including interface controls and their integration. Liaising with clients and project teams, and associated reporting will be an important part of the role. You will also be involved in supporting the day to day management of navigation simulation studies, including preparation of the simulators for simulation sessions.

About you

You will have :

  • A good computer science or scientific degree in a relevant subject 
  • Strong technical background and experience in Microsoft.net (C# and VB), C++ and Python 
  • Prior experience of Microsoft Windows system administration (software and hardware) 
  • Microsoft Azure cloud computing 
  • Broad software development experience including WPF, WinForms, SQL, OpenGL and HTML5 
  • xperience of Unity3D/DirectX also beneficial 
  • At least 5 years relevant experience 
  • Good communication and client liaison skills 
  • Ability to work within a team and independently with remote supervision 
  • Responsible, organised, logical thought process.

It will also be desirable for you to have experience in the marine/shipping sector and knowledge of electronics/control systems engineering.
