Local Government

Increasing public awareness, calls for greater accountability and emerging legislation such as the Marine and Coastal Access Bill, is changing the way that the coastal zone and marine environment are managed. In particular, there are indications towards Local Government and associated stakeholder organisations becoming more involved in marine spatial planning and regulation.

Underpinning these changes is the increasing and overriding recognition of the importance of accessing best available data and information, together with appropriate tools and expertise, essential to understanding our marine environment and deliver better science and improved evidence based decisions.

The Right Tools for the Job

SeaZone is ideally placed to assist in meeting Local Government's offshore geographic base reference information and mapping requirements and is already working with a number of Local Authorities, where SeaZone products are helping to increase understanding of the marine environment and being deployed in emergency planning applications.

Engagement with Local Government

SeaZone is actively engaging with Local Government and associated stakeholder organisations (e.g. Wildlife Trusts, Sea Fisheries Committees, Coastal and Estuary Forums/Partnerships) through a number of initiatives as detailed below.

If you are interested in becoming involved or wish to discuss further please contact Alison Smith, Marketing & Sales Manager.
