HydroSpatial - Future Development
SeaZone HydroSpatial is subject to an ongoing and long term development programme to provide improvements both in form, content and structure and ensure HydroSpatial
continues to meet increasing customer needs. Initially, much of the information that SeaZone HydroSpatial contains is re-engineered from data captured by UKHO from paper charts for the production of ENCs (Electronic Navigational Charts).
Increasingly though, more will be based on improved source data sets (e.g. wrecks) and on totally new data sets (e.g. detailed bathymetry from digital surveys) that depict the real world environment and provide key base reference information to be established.
- Increasingly based on source data including digital survey data, replacing data captured from nautical charts
- Data re-engineered for storage in spatial databases (e.g. Oracle 10G)
- Creating metadata, feature dictionaries and schema compliant with converging standards
- Adopting agreed base reference shorelines
- Helping to resolve inconsistencies at the land-sea interface in collaboration with OSGB
- Providing base reference information to which other objects, features and properties can be linked via topographical and topological identifiers.
