ESRI GIS Software
The following gives a brief summary of the ESRI products available from SeaZone. Further details can be provided on request.
Products
The ArcGIS Family of Products is an integrated collection of GIS software products for building a complete GIS for your organisation. The ArcGIS framework enables you to deploy GIS functionality and business logic wherever it is needed—in desktops, servers (including the Web), or mobile devices. This architecture, coupled with the geodatabase, gives you the tools to assemble intelligent geographic information systems.
Desktop
ArcGIS Desktop software products allow you to author, analyse, map, manage, share and publish geographic information.
- ArcReader is a free viewer for maps authored using the other ArcGIS Desktop products. It can view and print all maps and data types and includes some simple tools to explore and query maps.
- ArcView provides extensive mapping, data use and analysis along with simple editing and geoprocessing capabilities.
- ArcEditor includes advanced editing for shapefiles and geodatabases in addition to the full functionality of ArcView.
- ArcInfo is the full function, flagship GIS desktop. It extends the functionality of both ArcView and ArcEditor with advanced geoprocessing. It also includes the legacy applications for ArcInfo Workstation.
- ArcGIS Desktop Extensions can be added to desktop products through a series of ArcGIS extensions from ESRI and other organisations. Extensions allow you to perform tasks such as raster geoprocessing, three-dimensional visualisation and geostatistical analysis.
Server GIS
Server GIS products allow GIS functionality and data to be deployed from a central environment.
- ArcSDE is an advanced spatial data access server, providing a gateway for storing, managing, and using spatial data in a DBMS for multiple client applications (e.g., ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server, or ArcGIS Desktop).
- ArcIMS is a scalable Internet Map Server. It is widely used for GIS Web Publishing to deliver maps, data, and metadata to many users on the Web. For example, ArcIMS provides browser-based access to many GIS catalog portals that enable users to publish and share geographic knowledge with other users.
- ArcGIS Server is a comprehensive GIS toolkit for enterprise and Web application developers. It is used to build distributed and multi-tier enterprise information systems.
Other ESRI Mobile and Developer and training packages are also available on request.
