Delivering marine design solutions
The Saudi Ports Authority constructed a port to serve the Ras Al Khair industrial zone in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The port will become a major export hub for aluminium products and ammonium phosphate.
Phase 1 was completed in 2010 and formed three berths on the south eastern side of a new harbour basin. Phase 2 involves the construction of two berths on the northern face of the basin.
HR Wallingford supported both phases of the design work, and carried out:
We have helped our client design an export terminal that will deliver a very high level of operability, and that also provides for safe and robust operation.
We carried out a wide range of studies to deliver a safe and accessible marine design, including navigation simulation, mooring analysis, metocean conditions assessment, dredging estimates, and physical model tests.
